good news about independent community pharmacy is we're
independent, but that can also be the bad news. I think
one of the "bad news" parts of being independent is
that you can feel isolated, and there isn't a good way to
benchmark your performance. The performance group gives
you the benefit of a group of independent pharmacists who
are in it with you, and helps dispel the isolation. It
functions as a defacto Board of Directors, holding you
accountable to your own goals, applauding your achievements and
prodding you towards greater efforts if needed. The
benchmarking tools are of great value, and two days after the
first meeting, we were sharing benchmarks from our group with
our staff and using them to set new pharmacy goals for
gross margin improvement.”
